United Grand Lodge of England
The United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) has its headquarters in Freemasons’ Hall, London, and is the governing body of Freemasonry in England, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man and of some organisations overseas.
Its Grand Master is HRH The Duke of Kent.
UGLE currently has more than 200,000 members meeting in over 7,000 Lodges throughout the country.
The 200,000 members come from all walks of life and meet as equals whatever their faith, ethnic group or position in society. For many this spirit of fellowship is what they value most.
Making new friends, helping others, following a family tradition and participating in the ceremonial are also important.
Lodges are grouped into Provinces by region, roughly in line with the old county boundaries, under the guidance of UGLE.
UGLE holds four business meetings a year, known as Quarterly Communication.
Freemasonry operates to a rule book first published in 1723 – The Book of Constitutions.
